We welcome Lynne Joncas as our August Guest Designer ...

Hi! I'm Lynne and I'm so happy to have the chance  to guest design and share a page with you this month! I'm married with a grown son and daughter just getting ready to leave the nest, and lots of pets-2 dogs and 6 cats (they seem to keep following my daughter home...) I live in Ontario, Canada and have been scrapping for about 7 years, and I was thrilled to recently have a layout published in a magazine for the first time!

I loved this month's inspiration photo, and the sheep reminded me of big colourful fluffy clouds, so that's how I translated them to my page. They're cut from boxboard and covered in homemade texture paste. The photo spoke to me of the idea of living a unique and "colourful" life, which brought the title to mind.

You can find me on my blog ... Scrappy Squirrel's Nest.

Here is my take on the challenge for this month.

and here are some more pages I have done recently ...

Thanks so much for inviting me to play with you this month-I can't wait to see how that great photo inspires everyone!

You have until the end off the month to play along with us with our fun August challenge.  We'd love to see how you are inspired by our delightfully quirky coloured sheep.  Thank you for your continued support.

Welcome August, nice of you to drop by ...

Welcome to August.  Not only do we have a really different inspiration photograph for you this month, we also introduce three wonderful new members to the team -

Regina Chandler - AU

Phillis Walrath - USA

Anna Volker - AU

Welcome ladies !

Hee Sun Kim, from Korea,  will be guest designing with us in September.

I think you will like our inspiration photograph this month - something a little different!

Some really fun ways to interpret this one.  Do you like the colours?  How about a page using blue, yellow, green and red/pink with a touch of black thrown in for good measure?  What about connecting the sheep to a country scene, a visit to a farm, lamb chops on your plate!  Perhaps seeing coloured wool makes you think of  ... coloured wool - lol - do you knit, crochet, do tapestry or does someone you know follow a crafty pursuit?

Whatever the inspiration, we would love to see your work.  Please don't forget to tell us what it was that caught your eye.

Here is how our design team was inspired ...

REGINA
From this month's interesting image I followed the animal theme, and used the pretty colors of those unique sheep! I made my own mixed media background, lots of fun. Looking forward to seeing what you all create.

PHILLIS

The part of the photo that I was drawn to was the colors of the wool on the sheep.  I wanted to use bright pastels in my LO.  I used the paper with the circles that had the progression of colors and matched the butterflies with the same colors.

ANNA

I was inspired by the bright colours in the photograph.

I loved the inspiration this month the colours and black here is my take on the picture this month..
our beautiful children that we cherish every day ...

DI

From our inspiration picture, I have taken the colours and the quirkiness and produced a layout I had fun with.

The background was stencilled using gesso and Dylusion sprays.  I drew the sheep and clouds on white card. The clouds were painted with dabs and streaks of acrylic paint before adding the teased out cotton wool. They were then dabbed with colour. The sheep had cotton wool applied. The face was coloured with aquarelle crayons. Little knitting needles and some wool completed the sheep. (She's knitting a very special banner!)

TONE-LIL

Almost at the bottom of the pile I  still have a few more photos to make LOs for my nieces album,. This months fun picture of the coloured sheep was perfect as inspiration to make a page using this photo of her, so I used  multiple colored papers , stash and Dylutions as the sheeps had bright coloured fleece.

JANE

When I see coloured wool of any variety I always think of my Grandmother who was forever knitting or crocheting things for her family.

Our Design Team member Alicia Somers will be taking a short break from the team while she and her family move states.  We will welcome her back later in the year.

We also have a delightful guest designer this month to inspire you,  Lynne Joncas from Canada.  Lynne's lovely layout will be up next week along with our July winner announcement so please make sure you stop back on the 8th.

Please upload the DIRECT link to your actual entry to the link tool on the LEFT by 11.55pm on August 31st.

You are welcome to submit traditional paper layouts, art journals, divided page protectors, smash books (etc etc).  Digital entries are welcomed and encouraged.  All entries must be new for this challenge and no back-linking is allowed.  I am happy for you to combine with other challenges (maximum of 3) but the essence of the Pixels and Paper inspiration must be clear in your work. Combining with a sketch or colour challenge would be preferred.  International submissions are welcome.

Please come back later next week when we will announce the winners for July.
